The twelve chess piece symbols from the Miscellaneous Symbols block (U+2654–U+265F): white king ♔, white queen ♕, white rook ♖, white bishop ♗, white knight ♘, white pawn ♙, and their black counterparts ♚ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟. Widely used in chess notation software, game UIs, instructional texts, and Unicode art. The white pieces render as outline glyphs and the black pieces as filled glyphs in most fonts.
