HEAVY CHECK MARK

Weight alone separates this dingbat from U+2713 CHECK MARK: both describe the same tick, but U+2714 is drawn with a markedly thicker stroke so it survives at small point sizes and against busy backgrounds. It belongs to the Dingbats block, the range Unicode inherited from the Zapf Dingbats typeface, and carries the general category So (symbol, other) rather than any punctuation class. Because it is a symbol rather than a letter, it has no case, no numeric value, and no bidirectional mirroring. Most modern platforms give it an emoji presentation when it is followed by variation selector-16, which is why the same code point can appear as a flat black glyph in one context and a coloured badge in another.
